It's just a fact that the vast majority of people attending Braves' games get to the stadium by automobile. It's just a fact that most of them come from the suburbs. So it's not at all a joke to focus on getting cars into and out of the area, regardless of what public transit options are available or become available in the future.

Worse, there is NO way to accommodate such traffic in that bottle neck.
Honestly, that's just silly. You have 50 weeknight games a year that infrastructure will have to accommodate because of the Braves stadium. Normal growth and development will place a much greater burden on that infrastructure in the coming years, even if the Braves had stayed at Turner Field. So you're saying the Cumberland area can't afford to grow because there's "NO way" to accommodate increased traffic 365 days a year? Please.

This is a terrible idea that is simply being justified by people who aren't impacted unless they attend a game. This is insane.
I live in Smyrna and commute to Perimeter. You're hysterical.

There is already a pedestrian bridge spanning 41 connecting the galleria with Cumberland mall. It wouldn't be a 1 mile walk down pan-handler alley like at the Ted. With a bridge over 285, the Galleria and Cumberland would benefit from more walking traffic as well as all the bars and restaurants in the immediate area.

Is there? Where's the study and evidence that points that out? Where is the cost analysis that provides the specifics on cost versus benefit?

During the debate of TSPLOST, the cost for LRT to Arts Center from Cumberland Mall was pegged at nearly a billion dollars, yet no one could show anything specific on the expected ridership and why it was worth spending a billion in capital costs, along with some amount in annual operating costs.

The problem with transit (generally) is that you have to guess, then spend a fortune to build it, and then spend huge sums annually to operate and maintain it, much of it coming from taxpayer subsidy if the ridership is a bust.

They pretty specifically said it would go from the Cobb Galleria across I-285 so I measured it as the crow flies from the middle of the Galleria to the first road on the other side Circle 75 parkway which will be the south road boundary of the property. People parking at Cumberland Mall it would be about 0.7-0.8 mile walk to the stadium. Cobb Parkway and Circle 75 also already have sidewalks so that isn't an issue.

All the roads in that area have sidewalks already and technically CCT has a bus route that runs along Cobb Parkway with stops very close to the proposed site. I do agree with you that overall the new site isn't better than Turner Field for transit but I would also argue that Turner Field as a whole has pretty poor transit access relative to other venues in town like the Dome and Phillips and also many other stadiums in other cities so it isn't like they are leaving some wonderful transit situation right now.

Hopefully the overall development of the area, Braves related and otherwise, will justify those investments, though.
It probably won't even be 50 games a year, probably more like 35-40 taking out day games although those would end around rush hour so I guess you would still need to plan around them some.

Wrong thread, this is about what you want to see in the stadium, there are several others for whether or not you like the idea.

That's when it's in space. On the ground or in a stadium it is called a meteorite.

If the Braves were prepared to run a privately financed maglev to Turner field then maybe they will run one to their new stadium.

A lot of folks enjoy having a nice, clean place like the Cheesecake factory where you can take the kids and be certain that you're getting a good value for your dollar.
