"The project’s developer is expected to be selected in mid-2014 and construction should take about four years."

Why would this take 4 years to build? That seems like an awful long time.

probably because it's actually an NSA spying centre. seriously, "high performance computing center"? that sounds really vague and nondescript.

Looks like a year and a half of actual construction. Google works wonders around here..

Great project, and hope it will add retail and restaurants on the ground floor (I work about 3 blocks south of the site and the area could use more of those). I just wish they could've kept the entire Crum and Forster building and not just the front third.

I think because it hasn't even entered the early design phase yet. This actually the time it would take to finish planing , design and build it.

Georgia Tech Forges Ahead with New Techie Tower - Development Du Jour - Curbed Atlanta

Quote:
Georgia Tech's booming Technology Square plans to add more than 600,000 square feet as part of a mixed-use development loaded with high-tech uses and yet another new tower for Midtown. Half of the technology-centric tower, planned for the 700 block of Spring Street, would be leased by Georgia Tech, while an unidentified tech company is interested in co-anchoring the development and leasing 100,000 square feet, according to a request for proposals. Tech has plans for a high-performance computing center on site, which the school would lease to third parties, plus street retail, a member's club, conference area, technology showcase center and co-working space for start-up companies, Bisnow reports.

Does anyone know the height of the building? I know it says 24 stories but a residential 24 stories and an office 24 stories are different. Any existing buildings the height can be compared to?
