Improprieties in the work place don't just happen with low-wage workers. Even educated professionals do crazy stuff. Stop acting like the kind of work low-wage workers do is some indication of poor character.
I agree 100%. All I'm saying is you get paid what you are worth. Nobody deserves anything in life. You get back whatever you put into your career.

If someone does not like what they are getting paid they should change careers.

That's like saying a 70 year old male midget stripper should get paid the same a buff 6'8 bodybuilder. That's just isn't the way the world works. That male midget might want to look into going to school

Gross. Just stop, please. You're making yourself look terrible.
Yes, well...one thing my upper middle class parents did give me that I consider an advantage...an aversion to whining. It's come in very handy.

We sure don't all start the same but many of us who grew up poor work hard and do well. Maybe it is my upbringing but I feel like I am in a place now where I do well but I look at the government and my family would qualify for subsidies for healthcare - we are a one income family though. These days people often make you feel poor if you only make $50, 60 or $70k.

Part of what I see is real wage issues if you assume these folks never advance beyond minimum wage (traditionally it was mainly young kids and the like in these jobs) but a big part is also our culture of always wanting more. Adjusted for inflation a house hasn't really changed in price but for most it has because instead of a 1,000 sq ft place they Need a 3,000 sq ft place and all the stuff that goes in it. Cars are made better than ever before but the average price is $30k now and most people don't keep them long. Then theirs cell phones ($100+ a month-Needs for most regardless of income), computers, cable tv ($100+ month) etc.

Many of the protesters are admitting they have been paid to be there. Smoke and mirrors.

But why in your mind are they only worth a little bit of money and that they are deserving of being talked down about? What is it about people in these jobs that you think less of them? And do you really think it's easy for people to switch careers after we are still recovering from the worst economic downturn since the depression? People with skills and degrees are STILL struggling to find decent work for decent pay. Why are people working low-wage jobs being viewed as squandering opportunities or lazy?

I'm about done with this topic but I will say this. If they want more money they need to step up and do something into increase their worth and not complain about what they are getting paid. It's as simple as that. It's not that hard to understand. Why beg for more money when you can just go to a tech school/college/military/start a business/etc and gain a skill that will pay more. I know I couldn't live the lifestyle that I want with a Burger King paycheck so I did what I had to do to be worth more.

Then if all fast food workers took your advice, who would run the restaurants? Perhaps the CEO's of these companies who make all these millions per year can do the work themselves since they are making so much money and they don't want to pay anyone a decent salary to run the businesses that are making them rich.

I say since the lowly workers aren't worth much, fire them all and let the owners and executives do all the work. At least they'll pocket even more money since they won't have to pay anyone.

Typical union play... I'll never forget the day I asked an AT&T "protestor" what they did for the company. I got a blank look and the "boss" told me to move on...

Not whining in the least. I was born into a financially stable family and have done pretty well for myself. Just stating facts that you insist on hiding from.

I never asked my family for a dime or anything else. Was a single mother and career woman for a very large chunk of my life. Forgive me if I don't share your POV. It simply isn't my life experience.
