Your neighbors will likely be your biggest pests.

Which means you look for quality construction. We live in an older highrise that was build well with plenty of cement and noise is not a concern. I am sure some of the newer ones built as apartments may not be like that.

The neighbors are the luck of the draw. For the record though, I'd rather take loud music all night and buy some earplugs than deal with bugs.

I've seen two older properties that must have had plenty of cement in the floors. I can't say what the walls are like but I got the feeling you couldn't hear someone using a jackhammer on the floor above you.

No bugs for me besides flying ones. Way, way less than in any other housing format.

Neighbors are the biggest problem. Time to get from car to unit can be an issue, but it also can be in low rise apartments with attached garages, which often have 3-5 minute walks to the apartment from the car. In a highrise, you're waiting for the elevator instead.

The safety issue is a big plus for me. I feel completely safe in my Midtown highrise condo. In a house or lowrise apartment I'd feel much less safe.

As mentioned if you can find quality construction it would be ideal. Even then after my last two experiences, I don't think I'll be sharing walls again with anyone for several years, if ever

It appears noise from the neighbors bothered you most. I suppose that could be the case anywhere that is not a SFH and depending on how loud they are, it could happen there as well.

Ok, well as long is there is not some inherent problem with highrises and pests, then I'll be ok.
