I'm not a beer drinker, but I've got a relative that likes to try different beers from local brewers. I'd like to buy him some beer brewed in Atlanta, but I'm not sure where (or what) to buy.

Intown Market (corner of Decatur Street and Grant St in the Pencil Factory Lofts) sells all of the above local beers. Depending on what they have on tap, you can get them in growlers too. Here are some local breweries:

Red Brick
Monday Night Brewing
Sweetwater
Eventide (brand new)
Three Taverns Brewery (Belgian)

You might consider doing the tour and tasting at any of these places - they are all fun and a great way to get a lot of cheap beer! Although, I do think Sweetwater is overrated.

Sweetwater and Terrapin both have pretty big distribution ranges at this point, so a beer fanatic might have already encountered them somewhere on the east coast.

3 Taverns and Blue Tarp (BlueTarp Brewing Co.) are two of the newest in the area. Ale Yeah (Two locations now, one in Decatur and one in Roswell) or the Beer Growler (multiple locations as well) would be good stops to find advice on local beer.

That's Eventide. Their launch party is coming up at Six Feet Under in January, I believe. They started brewing a couple of weeks ago.
