I was driving around the area of Capitol View recently. Checked out a few properties near the Beltline. Its tempting. It seems like there is a TON of investment potential down there. Just a matter of when they develop the beltline.

I stopped at the Beltline ROW and was tempted to walk it to the tracks, but I kept seeing evidence of vagrants. By myself and no weapon, seemed like a bad idea. Do you ever walk the Beltline from Allene Ave westward?

I need to get to know the area better, but it seems like it rapidly moves between livable and dangerous. I may be off on the boundaries though.

They're getting a gorgeous new library there.

Capitol View is one of the first of several planned Atlanta neighborhoods to receive a brand-new public library.

Al Collins, an architecture and planning professional for City of Atlanta, submitted a building permit application Friday to construct the Metropolitan Branch library, at 1332 Metropolitan Parkway.

An estimated $8,977,520 will be spent building the new 23,861-square-foot library, according to the permit application.

The Metropolitan Branch is designed by Smith Dalia Architects in association with Craig Gaulden Davis and Ai3, according to the project’s website.

That rendering is actually the East Roswell branch. I'm sure nine million will provide for a nice library though.

Those neighborhoods have great housing stock and should see significant improvement in the next few years. Perkerson Park is a great amenity as well.

The picture in that article is of another branch. They will either be renovating this building:

OR constructing the library next to or in place of that building.

Being designated historic in the City of Atlanta just means more money to the city to issue permits on making any modifications or improvements on your property.

That is the old Capital View Baptist Church.

I would have loved for it to have been renovated, but that building was neglected and abandoned for many years and far gone.

It was recently demolished.

Can't build much with just $9 million. There was a vision for a new main library near Centennial Park. Is that moving along?

And really, should more libraries be built in this Information Age?
