The roads are pretty wet. Tomorrow is just a work day for me in Cobb but we shall see if they cancel.

If there is any black ice out there, it should be gone once the sun comes up and melts it. The rain is only supposed to be light tonight and the ground is warm, so the amount of moisture that freezes should be minimal.

People just need to keep their speed down and leave room between you and the car in front of you (in other words...do the opposite of what most in Atlanta typically do), especially before sunrise.

Oh, get a grip. Do you know that millions of people drive in ice and snow all winter, part of the fall and part of the spring?

It will not melt that easily because it will not be above freezing anymore until Wednesday afternoon

That's if the clouds break in the morning, Neil but with the heavy wind overnight, it probably will.

Having lived in the midwest and down here...black ice is scary...snow is one thing, I can control a car on snow, black ice though. Not so much. Give me snow all day though, I love the snow!

The wind and any cloud cover should actually help keep temps up, and also help the moisture to evaporate or sublimate.

The issues aren't just the ice, but dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills. I'd be surprised if half the school buses in the metro area can even start up tomorrow morning!

Snow, yes, ice, not so much. The North cities shut down just as quickly as our cities when there's major icing vs just snow. Additionally, they're used to it! When was the last time you drove in the snow?

Up north this weather isn't a big deal, but in an area that sees this type of weather once every 10-20 years its a huge deal. Most people do not know how to drive in this weather. Cars are not prepared for this, eg: oil types and fluids.
