Man, Al was hot! Blames the the state and governor. Says he did his job.

I blame Al, The Weather Channel, and all the local TV meteorologists for saying the storm would hit South Georgia and some south metro areas - but not the city and northern suburbs.

That's why no school districts in ATL or northern counties canceled classes. AND why the state GOT didn't sand roads earlier.

He blames the governor and mayor for being cheap for not sanding roads early. Said they had TWO days notice of this storm.

I don't think it's fair to blame the mayor for 285 since it is not even in Atlanta.

I guess he could have called Cobb and Gwinnett, etc. and told them to get on the ball.

You do know some schools closed. If Clayton and Henry can cancel, I at least expect Fulton and Atlanta to close. I can understand Cobb and Gwinnett even though they had hours to come up with a plan.

And what's with all the snow threads

This is the most curious thing to me. It seems as if in the past schools would close with the mere whisper of the word snow. Why didn't that happen this time?

Because if the storm didn't pan out everyone would've complained that the school districts "jumped the gun" by crying wolf (which has happened many times in the past).

Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess...

It was mentioned earlier that the Southside was expected to get the brunt of it. That may be why Henry and Clayton Counties made the decision to close. Thing is, much of Fulton is as far south as they are.

That adage has been very much on my mind.

They never said that. They basically said South Atlanta would be more snow but Atlanta and North Atlanta would get maybe an inch of snow

The Weather Channel likes to be sanctimonious, but they underestimated the storm's impact on Atlanta. They were mostly focused on Savannah and Charleston (where they sent their "star" reporters), which ended up not being as hard-hit as they predicted. Meanwhile, they issued a "StormCon" rating for Atlanta of 5 (out of 10), so a lot of people probably thought it would be no big deal. Come on, a couple inches of snow in Atlanta in the afternoon right before rush hour is an 8 or 9... as the chaos that ensued proved.
