In fact, the park marks the eastern boundary of Midtown so no way is it the heart.

Think of the city's other two CBDs: Five Points is the heart of downtown, though the denser core of buildings is to the north at Peachtree Center. And the Village is the heart of Buckhead, though the towers and malls are a mile or two beyond that.
Centennial Park is the heart of downtown

Piedmont Park is the heart. I don't know what the geographic center is.

Well if we worked off of Urban Geography theories, the heart would be the area with the peak land values, either different functions growing from there.

I would say it has to be 14th and Peachtree.

I know most of the urban residential growth goes further south, but residents are typically prices out of the center of central business districts.

14th and Peachtree has more commuter access, easier access to Atlantis Station and Midtown West with growing residential populations.

Either 14th and Piedmont or 10th and Piedmont are both fine answers.

I used to live at 14th and Piedmont and really loved it. My perfect slice of the city if I could choose anywhere to live is North of 10th street, South of 14th, and between Peachtree and Piedmont (closer to Piedmont, preferably).
