Doing something about homelessness is a good idea for sure but it's not the linchpin to reviving any part of the city.
Cheers to that!

Turn the old underground back into an afterhours party district, with street entertainers, etc. I barely remember it from the late 70s (because I was a toddler, not because I was too drunk ), but it had a very French Quarter vibe before all the Tshirt and frozen drink takeaway bars took over. I think something like Pensacola's current Historic District area would work for the brick-and-gaslight part, and then a PCM type development for the parts at streetlevel which generates revenue during the day. It also would provide much needed amenities to the workers/residents/students.

It would be awesome if future developers exorcised the 80's mall and did something along the lines of the brilliant rehab of the Olympia building Walgreen's has planned.

Maybe they could put the often-hoped-for casino under the streets...hide all that vice from the holy rollers I know its probably not big enough, but that would still be cool.

I'd love to see Underground become what it was in the '70's, especially if table gambling is added.

I thought Underground was already an after hours party district. Is that not the case?

Many of the clubs that opened in 2005(?) have closed. The one I miss most is Latin Sol, since they poured until 3am, had live music from 1am until 4am, and had a dance floor 3 times the size of Havana Club. I'd love to see that vibe at Underground again someday.

Atlanta BeltLine Inc. may leave Underground - Atlanta Business Chronicle
With the city looking to sell UA, the ABI is looking for 20K space for its offices downtown.

I say flood it with water and put in some waterfront restaurants and gondolas.
