I thought they were supposed to be a pair of condo towers. How did apartments get in the mix?

Market conditions have been favoring apartments for the last few years. Though, that might be shift. They will probably sell them as condos if the market goes that way as many other places seem to be doing.

The same builder who built the Park Ave condos.

That was the original plan. But, as jsvh said, the market shifted. The same builder is building the apartment tower. Both towers will be identical. All occupants of both towers will share the pool and dog walk. The new tower will rise on the parcel of land adjacent to Phipps Blvd and Longleaf drive. The plans have been in the works since 2000.

Well, I feel for those folks if they are getting shafted by the same developer who built their original tower.

By the way, is this the same building this thread is about or is it something else? I was thinking the Lenox tower is on the other side of Lenox and that Park Avenue is next to Phipps.

No. This is about the project proposed on the empty lot next to Bloomingdale's.

That's what I thought, but somehow we wound up talking about Park Avenue.
