it would be convenient but I have a feeling College Park, East Point and Hapeville will not be happy with this idea.

I think the airport needs a hotel, but I agree with you regarding how the leaders of College Park, Hapeville and East Point will probably object to this...

Because they all have hotels that specifically cater to airport travelers...

Don't Most of them get a % of the Hotel tax for hotels in there cities?

More compilation, might drive down rates some, (Unlikely: Airport Hotels tend to be higher priced then Off-Airport Hotel of the same star ratings) but with more inventory there may be lower occupancy rates in the hotels in there cities, there by reducing the amount of hotel tax they get.

Keep in mind that most of the Airport is in Clayton County.

The most Likely place for a Hotel to go Onside is where the West Economy Parking lot is. One or two "Land Bridges" with moving sidewalks to interconnect thru the Rental Car (SkyTrain) and your set.

They also have restaurants that cater to airport travelers. Do they object to the restaurants in the airport? I see no difference.

The restaurants in these areas are patronized by both airport travelers and local residents. On the other the main revenue that is generated from these hotels are from airport travelers. So if the airport does build a hotel it will hurt that revenue.

With that being said I still think a hotel for the airport is a good idea.

Is there any precedent to this? Other airports that have in-terminal hotels?
