Dubai will never have a soul. It's one of my least favorite cities.

That aside, DXB is in a perfect location between Europe, Asia, and Africa. With more and more Asian and African travelers, it's likely to remain one of, if not THE, top airports.
I agree about Dubai. It's the most contrived city I've ever seen. Last I was there half the towers didn't even have built out interiors.

It looks nice on a postcard or from far away. Up close, you realize it's just a bunch of skinny towers on the frontage road of a 10 lane highway. Imagine all Midtown and Downtown buildings, one row deep, facing 75/85 with a Chinese restaurant or Ferrari dealership in the base.

I LOVED Dubai when I visited last year....found it an absolutely fascinating place to visit. Just goes to show eh that we are all built differently!

Number 3? I assume you mean Beijing will remain at #2? Did you notice in my post where I noted that Beijing's airport has SLOWED in growth dramatically? I'm not blowing smoke, these figures are from the international aiport council. It isn't set in stone that it will overtake Hartsfield. Last year it only grew by a sluggish 2 or 3%. Atlanta could reasonably keep the #2 spot or vie for it. However, we must face facts. We are getting surpassed. It's time for Americans to face it. China's economy will pass us within 2 years. Our government has spent and warred our country into the ground. They have driven our debt to astronomical and unsustainable levels. Our people are economically illiterate. They know nothing of the basic rules of economic growth that have worked throughout history. Marxism is taught on college campuses as a viable alternative. Our people demand that others pay taxes for their benefit. They only want more and more "help" from the gubmint. As socialism rises economic growth falls to nothing as you sap the producers and innovators to give to the leeches and vampires. Our only hope is to either turn away from our socialist path or pray for an ecological disaster in China. That's about the only thing that will stop them from attaining world dominance.

I never stated I "liked" Dubai. I don't particularly care for it. I find it vapid and senseless like Las Vegas. Doesn't really matter whether we like it or not. They are building a supercity that wants many superlatives. We are talking about airport status and growth. Dubai will likely pass everyone. When it does, Atlanta WILL cede it's crown. Our economy will not grow again at a rate good enough to cause major increases in traffic. Dubai is at the crossroads of the world and is a perfect place for an airport.

Huh? Isn't China a communist country? my first daughter has history and politics at school. She always says that communist is the worst and communism is marxism. Socialism is Canada. Why China doing so good then that their airport takes over ours? And they are Marxism.

What in tarnation does a country's political system have to do with it's airport's ranking?

I enjoyed it, as well, but a couple of days there was enough. It isn't somewhere I'd go for a repeat visit any time soon.
