Hudson's in Douglasville is awesome. People come from all over for it, especially cops for some reason. Their Brunswick stew is insanely good.

I would also recommend Grand Champion or BBQ 1...both in East Cobb. Sure, there will be haters, but I think they do a fine job of BBQ.

Wallace's BBQ in Austell. Good food, step-back-in-time, inexpensive. Just north of I-20. Go back every time I am in Atlanta, even though I have done the pilgrimages to Lockhart TX, Lexington NC, and many other BBQ meccas.

Just because Georgia isn't known for it's own signature BBQ style doesn't mean it can't be the best place to get it. Fact is, we have a better variety of BBQ than any of those other places. You can get KC, Carolina, Mesquite, Soul food, Cajun, Korean, and just about any other kind you can think of, and that's just metro Atlanta. The whole state? There are TONS of good BBQ places to eat way out in the boonies. I'm sure this list took all that into consideration.

It looks to be a poll among its users, not a careful examination. Believe me, Texas has a lot of variety of BBQ. Even went to a BBQ fest where BBQ places offered samples, sort of like "Taste of Atlanta", but with BBQ.

Tons of BBQ festivals all over the south. One of my favorites is in Blue Ridge:

My favorite BBQ joint in Georgia is JL's Open Pit BBQ in Macon. Always good BBQ, and what has to be the best salad bar I've ever had.

Fresh Air BBQ in Athens is good too, as is Backstreet BBQ in Hartwell. There's also a place in Brunswick that I've eaten at before, but I forget the name.

I'm about to go to the Plantation Buffet here in Athens for lunch. Great soul food!
