Hello all.
We are two active and healthy retirees who have sold our condo in Ohio, and will be moving down south by the end of June. My wife is a Michigander who is tired of the cold weather; I was born and raised in LA, spent 35 years in TX, and want to get back "down home". We are attracted to the Newnan area because it is out of the Atlanta metro sprawl (yet within a reasonable distance for shopping, hospitals, doctors etc.), and seems to be a nice little town. My wife's sister lived there some time ago and liked it a lot.

We are looking to rent a condo, townhome, or apartment, in the price range of $750 - $950 per month (not including utilities). We don't care about night life, quick access to freeways, schools, or mass transit. Our priorities for the place are:1) a safe area to live in, 2) attractive, clean and well maintained, and 3) a quiet and peaceful environment.

We prefer a smaller complex or development with small "clusters" of units (although we do have 2-3 large complexes on our candidate list). We like the idea of a townhome or duplex, because we would not have anyone living above us. Assigned parking or an attached garage would be a big "plus" as well.

We've checked things out online and have come up with the candidate properties listed below. If you are familiar with any of them and can offer insight / recommendations, we would really appreciate it. Also: if there are specific areas we should look at (or avoid), or other townhome/apt complexes we don't have on the list but that you think are good, we'd appreciate any suggestions you might offer on them as well.

Thanks in advance for your help. The places that we are considering are:

Brown Ridge Townhomes, 60 Jane Lane

Overby Park Townhomes, 202 Overby Park Dr

The Columns at White Oak Apartments, 10 Lakeside Way

The Villas at Newnan Crossing Apartments, 1200 Newnan Crossing Blvd

Jefferson Point Apartments, 66 Jefferson Way

The Vinings at Newnan Lake, 80 Newnan Lakes Blvd

I lived at the Vinings at Newnan lakes- but that was about 5 years ago. I really liked it, it was quiet and very safe. The summergrove subdivision also has some townhomes as I remeber looking at them, but not going with them due to it being more expensive, but they were right next to a little lake/pond and 1+1 townhomes so very quiet and safe.

From what I can gather, you seem north of 50 years old/young so my recommendation is The Forest at York Apartments - Rent Apartment - Newnan, GA 30263.

Ecuresident, thanks very much for the comeback. We are seriously considering the Vinings. The apartments there run around $100 / month, so if Summergrove is even more expensive then that wouldn't work for us.

Reff, you are quite right in that we are north of 50 (by 20 years or so). We did look at the Forest at York, but it has rent restrictions based on income. Apparently at least some of the units are subsidized, for seniors with low incomes. Although we certainly aren't wealthy, I would assume we don't qualify for it. However, if this is an incorrect assumption, by all means let me know.

Please don't move into The Columns At White Oak, I lived there before while the staff was nice those apartments need a makeover. I know you can get a nicer apartment in the area for the same or even cheaper price. Also your rent goes up yearly

The Vinnings are fairly new and very nice, plus its close to everything! I haven't seen any garages back there, but my friend lives in the front so they may have some in the back.

Overby Townhomes are really really nice, and they have garages. Fairly quiet and clean!
