This is why I am so pro- manufacturing and strongly in favor of encouraging the auto industry in Georgia. One Auto plant (Kia) just keeps producing more and more jobs in so many different ways.

That's exactly right. The automobile industry is one of the MOST important manufacturing industries. It creates what are known as "ecosystems" of manufacturing. Suppliers and component manufacturers almost always set up shop nearby for short distance movement. These ecosystems have an exponential impact on manufacturing growth and output. That's why developing countries want to create an auto industry so badly. The South, including Texas, has taken over this role largely in this country. There is no reason N.C. and Ga. shouldn't get their piece of the pie.

Georgia actually used to lead the South in the production of automobiles and other transportation equipment but then Ford, GM, and Bluebird (school buses) all closed shop here

Now there's a big rise in Auto production in the South as you said led by foreign car makers. Unfortunately it's largely missed Georgia for Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Mississippi.

That's why 1/8 of all jobs in Ohio are part of the auto industry...
