Mississippi has some nice casinos. Are there any similar types of casinos in Atlanta or if not in Atlanta anywhere in Georgia? If so, where are they located?

Short answer: No.

To gamble you have to go south to FL, west to Alabama, or north to NC.

Yes. They are illegal and located behind gas stations and Ethiopian restaurants.

Every few years the issue of legalizing casinos in Georgia comes up and suffers a quick agonizing death. Of course we have a lottery, so you can buy a bunch of scratch offs and if you close your eyes real tight, and pump a few hundred gallons of cigarette smoke into your living room it's kinda like the real thing, minus the water down liquor of course.

But yeah your best bet is probably going to be Harris Cherokee Casino in North Carolina, about 2 1/2 hour drive if you take the right route and speed through the Smokey Mountains. If you want the close to Vegas, but still not quite Vegas experience, you will have to head down to Biloxi, Mississippi, which is about a 6 or 7 hour drive, or thereabouts.
