There has been some really great work put into this. This strikes me more like a bigger, longer Freedom Park Trail than anything resembling the Betline. It has some great potential to alter and supplement development patterns between south of Lindbergh up to the Buckhead business district. If the trail grade can be kept to moderate levels, then Bike commuting could become a serious possibility for many more Atlantans.

Just because there's good, doesn't mean we should stop complaining about the bad! I've been complaining about the weekend garbage since long before the improved frequencies.

There really is an issue if you are close to a bunch of cars, especially during rush hour when its hot.

I haven't figured out why the air quality is so bad here. Atlanta is near the top of all the lists excluding California cities. Its not like there is a lot of heavy industry. There's lots of trees. Maybe it has something to do with the hills trapping the particles.

To put a finer exclamation point on the whole riding along 400 issue: whenever it runs along 400 it is on the other side of the 20 foot tall metal wall. Here's a picture of the wall as it currently exists and an "after" picture of what it is planned to look like once the trail is done:

Before:

After:

It's from this video, which indicates that the metal wall will be reinforced with sound deadening material to minimize the noise from 400 on the opposite side. This portion of the video begins around 7:25. GA400 Trail Overview and Tour - YouTube

Thus, LovelySummer's concern about "wind gusts" and noise is likely exaggerated. Though to be fair, when curbed posted about this path several months ago, many people made the same mistake and thought the rendering depicted the path along 400 rather than along the short stretch that runs next to Lenox Rd.

That steel noise barrier sure brings out the nature of the area.

So you'd rather they not build it?

I think some more greenery along that wall would help, but overall this looks like it will be a great piece in Atlanta's emerging trail system. I'll take getting something good over not getting something perfect any day.

Not much else you can do when the government rams a giant freeway and a heavy rail line through the middle of your neighborhood.

I'll have to give those folks credit for making lemonade when they were handed lemons. A lot of places might have folded up but they hung in there and knitted their community back together. It's super nice up that way.
