Is the cap over that section of the connector still in the works?

The state once again half-assed the project. According to the website Liberty Plaza | Georgia Building Authority, not all of the current parking structure will be down down.

Definitely a big improvement, though. You can't just do away with parking unless you are providing it somewhere else.

Those parking lots are just down right embarrassing...
Those developers ought to be ashamed they hurt the city so badly.

But this news about Liberty Plaza is GREAT NEWS!!!
And I hope the MLK statue goes up in GRAND fashion & puts the DC version to shame (though, I'm not convinced it should be in front of the Capitol bldg., but I'm okay with it).

If I could, I'd flatten the rest of those hideous garages & build them underground, topped with landscaped parks, fountains & street level retail

Replacement parking is the new deck located on the site of the old GDOT headquarters building.

Sure you can. There are other options for getting from point A to B. People need to get over being entitled to parking space everywhere they go.

Hardly convenient to the 5 million folks who live in the region and else where in the state. What's that person from Columbus supposed to do?

The state Capitol should have been better planned. Austin and Texas did a great job.

This is poor argument, it's not like there is a parking capacity issue downtown. There are tons of lots available in the immediate vicinity. Also, this lot was not used for visitors, it was primarily for workers.
