I'd like to see how you get away with more than an appetizer at places like Octopus Bar and Argosy. But I will give you less than $20. And it is a good thing to get great food at great prices.

Yeah, I'm sure I've spent well over $10 on dinner in EAV in the past.

Argosy probably has the highest priced menu items of any restaurant in EAV (I haven't been to Octopus...maybe it's a bit higher), but most of their menu is $10 or less. That's the type of money one would expect to pay at Applebee's or Chili's. Even their most expensive items are on the lower end of the price range of, say, Longhorn Steakhouse. Are those considered expensive restaurants?

EATSEATS

Point being, either the OP misjudged EAV, or he's going to be in for a bit of a shock when he looks into other intown neighborhoods, most of which are more expensive to dine in than EAV.

As for your last sentence and your previous response to me, you seem to think I'm judging EAV restaurants. That is not the case. I eat in several EAV restaurants regularly.

I have, too, but most of the cost was drinks (which are no more expensive than any other neighborhood).

You can get a sandwich for $9 (before tax / tip), but any entree or pizza will cost you $13 to $19.

EATSEATS

Still one of my favorites and well worth the price. But it falls in the "$$" category vs the "$" category.

Pizzas at Argosy are big enough for two people to share, so that puts it under $10 per person.

When I have ordered them for two we have added a salad and an appetizer.

Be that as it may, EAV is not full of expensive restaurants, as was claimed. On the contrary, the exact opposite is true.

You're right about that...there have been some pretty good and very reasonably priced restaurants there over the past few years. I used to go to the Heaping Bowl a lot, and a burrito place that I can't remember the name of - both inexpensive.

But I guess "expensive" depends on one's perspective.

Yes, this it true. Nor would I want EAV to be full of expensive restaurants.
