Even if Clayton County gets a 1% sales tax increase on the November ballot, it passes, and Clayton fully joins MARTA, I wouldn't expect heavy rail service to hit Clayton (south of the airport's domestic terminal) for up to a decade or so. Bus service and probable commuter rail service is all they should expect in the short term.

Well they'll never have rail if they don't pay for it.

Here is where Clayton can shine. I hope they pass it and surpass Cobb in economic activity.

It would have the potential to be the greatest turn around for a county in GA state history.

Clayton's got a lot of good energy these days. I have a feeling they can pull this thing off.

That's true, but I wasn't implying that they shouldn't pass the 1% sales tax (trust me, they should). All I was saying is that heavy rail will come, it will just be down the line due to the various studies, public meetings, and right of way acquisitions that would have to be made for a heavy rail expansion (and that's all before any ground is broken).

Whats going to be fun, is when MARTA comes out with the right of way path for the extension of the N/S line

The Sierra Club or some other environmental group says you put the line thru there, there is a endangered lizard that lives there.
