That's the ticket! People loved those guys!

Were they the ones responsible for the no knock warrant that ended up killing that older woman?

It has great access to jobs, 2-3 MARTA stations within walking distance. It has to be one of the most connected areas of town!

For those who don't think the near Westside has the potential to be something really big, you must not remember what Midtown used to be like.

This area probably has easier access to job centers than most of the metro area so no excuse there.

Blight and poverty are complex problems with very complex solutions. Much more complex than a simple lack of jobs...

i don't think it's going to see a revitalization on the scale of midtown because of its location. midtown was always going to see a revitalization; it's on peachtree street, directly north of downtown and south of buckhead, and next to piedmont park. it was only a matter of time.

english avenue and vine city are simply not connected to downtown. the railroad track, compounded with the GWCC and the GA dome, the gaping scar that is northside drive, and now the destruction of the MLK bridge, have effectively cut off both neighbourhoods from downtown. it seems like you are miles away when it's only a matter of a few thousand feet.

the bluff became so bad in the last 25 years that even the low income black residents, who had been the last thing holding the neighbourhood together, had to leave. midtown was never in the state that the bluff is currently in, and to expect this neighbourhood to naturally revitalize without some serious help is a mistake.

I've witnessed gentrification in some of the worst blocks in Harlem, many areas of the worst neighborhoods in Brooklyn, the U street area in DC so I know if it can be done over there in the English Ave area. If there is true value in that area (which I think it is), the necessary resources will be employed to clean that area up.

It's more than just jobs. It must be a combination of opportunity, investment and law enforcement.
