It seems as though some in here have this "Holier-than-thou" attitude. Ignore them. Everyone makes mistakes.

I would not pay it because it will make your insurance go up and add points to your license. I recommend using a lawyer.

I have used Hendrick Law Firm in Decatur. The number is 404-373-8000.

Get a lawyer.

I one time got a ticket for going 45 over in NY. It turned out I could have gone to prison because of the "Tyson Rule" (A law made for Mike Tyson, since he was a serial super speeder). GA has the super speeder law, but the result will probably be similar with good representation: I got a lawyer and it got knocked down to the equivalent of parking in a moving lane violation which was still expensive but nowhere as bad as it could have been.

These tickets probably would cost about $200-$400. How much is a lawyer?

You know!

He's clarified that he was clocked at 56 and not 91 and it's not like he got a DUI. When a person no longer has the option of paying a ticket without going to court, then it may be time to get lawyer. Other than that, I'd just pay the ticket and move on.

Yes, his insurance is probably going to go up, but this does sound like quite a bit of hullabaloo over end results that will be the same. I mean for goodness sake, OP even posted on this board that he was speeding. Nothing about this indicates it will end well so just pay it and push on to a brighter side of life.

I am wondering the same thing. What is the cost of a lawyer versus paying the ticket? What are you basically paying for from a lawyer, to get the charge changed to some simple misdemeanor?

Exactly. The best solution is simply to pay this ticket and learn from the experience, and quit driving so fast.

I can't tell you how many times I've aggressive drivers speeding and bullying their way through neighborhoods, only to wind up sitting next to them at the the next traffic light.

I paid $400 for the lawyer at Hendrick Law Firm and you can negotiate the price with the lawyer. So pay $400 for a lawyer and he/she will get the mileage reduced thereby reducing your chances of having points on your license and having your insurance go up (And you may not even have to pay the fine, I did not) or pay the fine (Lets say $400) + have points added to your license + have your insurance go up. Do the math and you come out better with a lawyer who will even show up to court for you on your behalf. Just my opinion!
