Hi Sedimenjerry, thanks I will search by Cobb County and narrow it down to east Cobb.

Some Realtor sites allow you to search by High School Clusters.

For East Cobb I would suggest:

Walton, Pope, Sprayberry, Wheeler, Lassiter

Now the question is that do you think I should make the move from Boca Raton to Marietta (east Cobb or somewhere in between)? Will I enjoy it there compared to where I currently live? Just need help deciding. Thank you :-)

Well if you enjoy the ocean, stay put. If you like 4 pronounced seasons with a summer that isn't nearly as hot or humid but winter that doesn't require digging out of snow, then the Atlanta area is great. I haven't been down in that area in quite some time and never for an extended period so I can't really compare Boca Raton to this area. Depends on your interests. I've heard of people moving from Florida to Georgia for a better quality of life/lower cost of living. Don't have to worry about hurricanes!

thanks Sedimenjerry, I love season change and the beach but I've lived here my whole life so leaving the beach for a different scenery sounds like a nice change. I guess I just have to make the pros and cons list and figure it out. Thanks for your help

Actually, Vinings is probably out of your price range, but you can probably afford Smyrna and have money left over for private school.

Note that most schools in Cobb - be it Marietta, Smyrna, Vinings, East Cobb, etc - are better than Florida schools in general. It's one of the best school systems in GA. So all comparisons are relative.

Yes, schools are not the greatest here as a whole but this is why I moved from Miami Beach to Boca Raton because Boca has the best schools and safer areas to live. I like a lot of the areas that were mentioned and hoping this is an easy decision lol. Thanks Net Dragon

We moved from the Tampa area to Atlanta last year and we like it! So much stuff to do with our kids here instead of just going to the beach and theme parks all the time. Just a few examples: day trips to Chattanooga, visiting the mountains, apple picking, real fall festivals, sledding, stone mountain etc. You can always do the drive to Florida for a vacation!

FLMommy07, yes all the attractions you mentioned in Atlanta and surrounding area is awesome. I guess you're right I can always visit, I still own a condo on South Beach so there's that for vacation. I appreciate all the feedback
