I've been tooling around online browsing apartment complexes, and they all seem to not only have carpet, but this light, off white or beige carpet. I HATE CARPET. I'm prepping for my move back to Atlanta early next year, and have decided not to buy right away. Does anyone know of any apartments inside the perimeter without the dreaded carpet?! I prefer hardwoods and tile. Budget is under $950 for a one bedroom. Thanks.

I have been looing at apartments also because I am moving back before Halloween and I think every apartment has carpet. I had some friends ask some places to remove the carpet before they moved in because they didn't like carpet. The places did it but got that WTF look from them. You may have to ask/call around and see if they would remove the carpet. Only places I know that didn't really have carpet when I was growing up was the PJs the ones I stayed in and hung out at.

I prefer hardwood floors too, but the majority of apts in Atlanta do have carpeting. Some have carpet in some units and hardwoods in others as an upgrade so I'd recommend getting in touch with an apartment search service like Promove to help you navigate the market noting that hardwoods are decision-making amenity for you.

Off the top of my head, Muses Loft Apts downtown has all hardwood flooring. Also, I belive Lenox Park had some Keep in mind that apartments with all hardwood flooring are usually older while condos with all hardwood are usually newer. There may be some other features you prefer even less like I'm not a fan of separate hot and cold faucets in a sink. I find it cute but not functional on a daily basis and pretty much outright annoying.

One final thing is that since hardwood is now considered an upgrade, you may just be able to see if the complex of your choices offers it as an upgrade. Also, even though you'd have to leave it behind, you check to see if you could have it installed yourself.

Might have to enlist the help of an apartment finder service.

Carpet in rentals is a nightmare; good luck with your search. I'm convinced that every rental has wall-to-wall carpet because they can just rip it out when it gets disgusting and charge the tenant for the damage, instead of other types of flooring they'd have to actually maintain. I never managed to be completely rid of it until I bought my first place.

From my past and recent experiences, the only way you're not going to have some carpet is if you rent an older building. LovinDecatur gave you a good recommendation in Braden Fellman, there's also LivingInTown Property Services, and MLC Properties off the top of my head. You'll have to just do some research and also do some driving and you'll see signs in a lot of the older properties on who to call. You can also call on people trying to rent out their condos, which might not have carpet, though those being in your price range will depend on where you're trying to live.

Go for a loft. They almost never have carpet. Beware, you are likely to hear all sort of noise from the other units, however. Nothing to help trap sound.

Yeah, I love lofts for their extreme openness, but the noise issue is a deal breaker.

ATLJR and LovinDecatur, thanks for the Branden Fellman reminder! I'm a little familiar with them and their in town properties, but had forgotten all about them. Do they list their properties online, or have a website? Maybe I'll just Google it. Thanks again.
