Wondering if you guys have been to or know of which farmers markets have baked goods vendors. I'm starting an organic baking business (specifically pound cakes) and am interesting in becoming a vendor next year. Also interested in markets with an organic, local food/produce type vibe. Aside from classic southern pound cakes, I'll be offering vegan and gluten-free options too.

Farmers Markets are nothing like they were when I was growing up; they've become so sophisticated and complicated with all these regulations, application processes, certifications, blah blah. It used to be that you just pay for a booth, pull up your truck, and put up your table. No longer...

Anywho, I've Googled some, but it's getting exhausting going through EVERY SINGLE market website figuring out what they allow to be sold. I didn't realize there were so many in the metro area!!

Just if you know of any off hand, maybe that you've been to, that would be great. Let me know also if you've seen any other pound cake businesses there that you can remember; gives me an idea of my competition! Thanks!!

Definitely look at the Grant Park Farmers Market. It takes place every Sunday morning-early afternoon from March-December. There are a few booths that sell baked goods. Off the top of my head:

- H&F Bread
- Little Tart Bake Shop
- La Cavalera Bakery

There is also a booth for donuts and other pastries, and plenty of bakers booths that aren't there weekly, but rotate in and out every other week or so. I'd say that on any given Sunday, I usually see 4-6 booths with all kinds of baked goods - mostly pies, breads, tarts, and other pastries. Not sure that I've seen pound cake.

Great, thanks! Was actually hoping to find one open on Sundays!

Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Roswell, etc

I am a Farmer's Market junkie and I don't think I have been to one that doesn't have some kind of baked goods....

This is too big and overwhelming for me; also, too commercial. Looking for something smaller, more grass roots. Doesn't seem to be for the little guy just starting out.

I just spoke with them by phone. Like I thought, what I'm doing wouldn't work there. They're basically like a grocery store, in that they have buyers that go to local farmers and get produce to bring back to the market to sell, but no farmers/vendors set up there. The baked goods are all made in house by the staff. Thanks anyway though.
