They probably wouldn't even need to do that. Just sell the remaining stuff on the Memorial site and have the next incoming shipment delivered to the new site.

I'd sure like to see this happen. Memorial has great potential and has lingered for a long time.

Is Chop Chop still open next door? That was a great place to get a cup of coffee if you were eastbound in the morning. None of that frou frou stuff -- just steaming hot Joe in a big styrofoam cup.

Yes it is. I actually thought they were closed until very recently. I'm looking forward to my next hankering for fried chicken so I can try it out.

They are good folks. Reminds me of Memorial in the old days when the Mack truck place was just up the road.

Back then it was all working class.

A tipster in Curbed's comments had some possible inside info:

Paces Properties is under contract with this property and has NOT closed on it yet. Woodward will NOT be extended to Bill Kennedy way but SHOULD bisect this property and take a south bound turn back to Old Flat Shoals. It is impossible to connect to Bill Kennedy as Wag A Lot and the A&P Lofts are in the way.

Good job picking up on that comment magnetar. Here is hoping they get Woodward connect to Bill Kennedy / Beltline soon. This property may not get it all the way there, but they better make sure they do what they can to make the connection on this property. That bike avenue will be a great connection.

Default New condo project approved by Atlanta Planning Dept.

Meet Memorial Drive's Latest Proposal: 27 Condos & Shops - Development Du Jour - Curbed Atlanta
Quote:
The latest plans in a flurry of development activity along Memorial Drive are calling for a rare post-recession condominium project, plus a smattering of retail. On a site where a similar mixed-use development failed a decade ago, leaving only its graffiti-laden foundation like bones, a proposal called "742 Memorial" is being billed as the next big thing in Reynoldstown and "Atlanta's most exciting corridor." A promotional website promises 27 modern condos and about 6,000 square feet of street retail, just west of the Atlanta Dairies project and future extension of the Beltline's Eastside Trail. According to LoopNet, the property has more than 200 feet of Memorial Drive frontage. The city's planning department approved the project (pending very specific design alterations) earlier this year, but there's no word yet on a timeline or price range for these for-sale units. Have a gander at how the site currently looks — and what the future may hold — after the jump.

"billed as the next big thing in Reynoldstown"

A minor quibble, but this entire property is in Cabbagetown, not Reynoldstown.

Curbed is not known for their amazing journalism, but then again AJC is nothing to idolize either.
