Reed: Expect mixed-use project at Underground

This is pretty exciting, I can't wait to see the plans.

For those interested in the historic preservation aspect, I have mapped out which buildings in the property are historic and which are not. You have to zoom in at least once to make the map appear correctly.

This is excellent news! It's in a prime spot and should help make Five Points more than just a transfer station.

Reed says some of the retail space in the subterranean part of the project will stay retail. But with people living upstairs, the struggling shops in Underground would no longer depend on tourists for traffic.
So, basically we're going with the same as now, just with residential on top. I hope he has more up his sleeve than that.

Awesome. Look forward to the details by the end of the year. This is exactly what needs to happen there.

I'd be interested to see how he gets someone to actually put that much investment into the location.

I wonder how this will affect the shops in the area? Many have been there quite a while and a lot of folks count on them.

You'd hate to see either customers or longtime merchants priced out unless there are alternatives for them.
