The best stadium in the world is opening here in 2017
The Worlds largest sports complex is one hour north
Every sports bar is packed every weekend during football season
Those soccer games held at the dome at record attendance
We have sports bars for the most popular teams across the country

sports= hs, college and pro's
This thread piqued my interest, so I'm just throwing out some thoughts.

Indianapolis is the amateur sports capital of the world. The NCAA is headquartered there. It also has the largest single sporting event in the world, the Indianapolis 500 (more than 250,000 permanent seats… many more can fit in the infield). The NFL combine is held there. Pro football and basketball. Minor league baseball and hockey. Two Big 10 (Big 14, really) schools within an hour of the city.

For the bold, Maybe Chicago is better?

Any Big 10 (Big 14, really) school has a dedicated bar in Chicago. Here's a list of dedicated college sports bars.

NFL bars.

Baseball and Basketball are dominated by the Bears, Cubs, and White Sox. No bars really dedicated to a specific baseball or basketball team in Chicago.

Just some thoughts.

What/where is the 'world's largest sports complex?'

I thought this was: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Sports_Center

Edit:

I figured it out: http://www.lakepointsports.com/

Lakepoint Sports Complex. They are building it now. Some of it is open now but most of it will be completed by late 2015.

I can't really compare the sports bar scene in Chicago since I'm out of the loop on it but since Atlanta is such a big transplant city just about every major team as a sports bar here. I would post this old link with the list of sports bars but it isn't available now

No it's not.

We have a new College Football HOF Museum
It actually moved from South Bend.

That mostly relies on outsiders coming.

Best in the world? Sez who?

So not in the "Sports Town"?

How to quantify?

Those soccer games held at the dome at record attendance
Whose record was broken?

Again, relying on outsiders.

And lost a pro hockey team...not once...but twice.

I've just recently moved down here in July and the sports scene really saddens me, there's such minimal support for the pro teams here. You're missing a hockey team and an MLS team (yes, I know one is coming) you don't have a NWSL team but even if you did have those you wouldn't support them!

Sorry OP you are far and away from being America's Sports Top Town.
