You may be thinking of Charlie Loudermilk.

The guy trying to redevelop the village area retail was Ben Carter, who also developed Mall of Georgia. Terrible timing -- he paid gazillions to acquire the property just as the economy collapsed.

Sounds like he landed on his feet, however. He has purchased 20 buildings in downtown Savannah and plans to revitalize the Broughton Street district.

There were also some recent articles about his new 140 foot yacht.

Between the sex shops, pink pony, and now this news.... Brookhaven seems to be case study when you create a government centered around nimbyism.

Its going to be very interesting to see what Buford Hwy looks like 10 yrs from now. I believe it will be drastically different and much more upscale.
