Yeah I suspect that is the case. After Brookhaven rejected their $200k/yr offer, Pink Pony stopped making offers and tried to win in court. When that failed, they realized the only way to win was to pay whatever it took.

$800 a day is peanuts for an operation like the Pink Pony. They'll make that back in 30 minutes.

This is not a solution. This stinks from every angle.

The city threatens to abuse its' power (IMO), the business offers to pay off the city, the city too quickly forgets its objections due to money.

There is nothing to like about this.

All the courts, including the state Supreme court, say it's not an abuse of power.

Be that as it may I'm in favor of the community working out the arrangements it prefers. There's no way a puny little city can afford to do battle with powerful strip clubs.

You're ok with the city exercising its power to extort money out of a business? This isn't some minor arrangement. This is "Pay us $250,000 or we shut you down."

This is incredibly unethical.

I thought it was the Pink Pony who came up with the idea of offering money if the city would give them an exemption.

I'm sure it was their idea.

Wonder how a strip club could have that kind of change laying around??? Hmm.

We will shut down your pre-existing business, or you pay up $250,000. Call it...protection money.
No kidding! Who was it who said that the mafia might be controlling the Pink Pony? Sounds more like they might be controlling Brookhaven's municipal government!
