Anything to bounce light around the station would be helpful. Art would help, too.

It just feels depressing in there. Every time I'm in that station I want to get out as soon as possible. No other station in the system makes me feel that uncomfortable. I'm comfortable on MARTA, but I can't imagine what it makes the average tourist feel like.

Tourist in NY always complaining about how nasty the Trains station's can be. They sometimes feel the same.as you do in Atlanta. Especially with all the bad smells. There really isn't any character in.the stations there just old old old old.

Why not put more advertisements in stations? They would bring light and color to the gray stations, and they would be another stream of revenue for MARTA.

Unless they clean up the area around the 2 stations all they will have is nice fancy stations with homeless people just a few feet away. Close Metro Mall and that will be a huge start to making the area better.

Looks like the proposal to redo the Five Points MARTA station is still alive.

I'd much prefer to see a complete makeover that puts the station underground than a concrete hulk with a soccer field on the roof.

I really don’t care about updating 5 Points, as much as repairing what is there and keeping it clean. There is a broken grate over a drain in the plaza area that has been that way for months (at least). Sometimes the city sticks a cone in it every once in a while, but they never repair it. Same thing with tiles in the station. A well spent 50K on the small stuff would really be nice at this point.

Agreed. It's a dingy-looking concrete monolith at the present time.

I've often considered that the bright red tile used in the lower level platform adjacent area is very dated looking. The replacement of it could enhance the overall interior appearance of Five Points if proper care is taken in terms of selecting both the texture & color(s) used to replace the red tile.

Thanks for digging up & then posting that link, arjay 57. It gives us a wonderful look at both the historical context of the station and it's immediate area as well as a helpful look at the possibilities of the MARTA Five Points of the near future!

In terms of the timetable reference to 2026 & the World Cup, there's little time to waste in getting on with such a massive redo if it's to be accomplished by 2026!
