With my mother near Asheville, and my son in Raleigh, I'm in NC every 6 weeks or so. In fact, I'm here right now. Lordy I hate I-85.

The Great Smoky Mountain!
My advisor thinks the city of Charleston has a unique style so I always want to visit.
But most of the time I visit NC/SC for scenery, and the frequency is about once per two years...

I think a lot of whether you choose to visit the Carolinas depends on where you are originally from. (I'm originally from the Gulf Coast of Alabama.)

If I want to go to a beach out of state, I'd select Floribama. If I wanted to hit the mountains, I'd head to Tennessee. It does seem that native Atlantans or Georgians are more likely to head to the Carolinas. Also, transplants not from the region at all do so as well.

Although I have not been since a couple of summer vacations years ago, it seems nice enough but just not worth the extra time for the trip.

I'd love to visit Pensacola this spring break. Nice beaches, and it isn't too far away.

I live on Hilton Head and I can tell you when the tourists come, ( from may through sept 4th), the majority of the cars are from Ga. and AL. and PA. with Ga. far outnumbering the other two. hope this helps.
