So sad to hear. I wonder what they are going to put there. That was built to be the "Mall of GA", but all the retailers they put in to fit into the grand scheme just don't do well. Lord N Taylor and now Nords. Just shows that in that area the big stores are Macy's Belk and Penny's... Interesting to see how the mall will look/feel 10yrs from now with all this construction going on and how it will keep up with the trends

The Mall of Georgia is going to be interesting to watch. In the past, malls closer to the city have withered and died as populations move further from the urban core. Now, as more people are moving back in, are the malls on the suburban fringe going to survive? It's a phenomenon we haven't witnessed, but could be possible. Driving on I-85 near the Mall of Georgia, you can see neighborhoods bordering the highway that were built about 15-20 years ago. These homes already look like they're falling apart. It reminds me of Gwinnett Place Mall in the late 90s before it collapsed. Businesses around the Mall of Georgia are already starting to close. Isn't the Brandsmart now a huge husk of an empty building?

The Mall of Georgia is still extremely busy on the weekends, so I don't think there's much danger in it withering anytime soon. However, that Nordstorm has always seemed very empty since the day they opened it. I'm surprised it has lasted this long.

It's busy now, but so was Gwinnett Place 15 years after it opened. I think in 15 years, Mall of Georgia will be in the same boat Gwinnett Place is in now in its 30th year of operation. It will probably still be operating in some capacity, but not on the same scale. If it doesn't replace Nordstrom with a quality anchor tenant relatively soon, it's going to start struggling.

I feel somewhat the same. And yes Brandsmart is closed. But It was dumb to build that in Buford anyway. I see Mall of GA staying open and being like a nicer Towncenter. Alot of people from North GA go there to shop when they want to come into the metro area....
