I went to Bone's in Buckhead last night which was incredible. Looked at the wine list which the most extensive in the city and probably a top 10 in the USA. Some of the bottle prices are insane.

Take a look. Go to the bottom of this list

Bone's is not inexpensive but I have always felt you get good value.

Good value if you want to pay $1,100 for a $200 bottle of Phelps...

My husband is a bit of a "wine snob," but he does something at restaurants that I find really smart. He will ask for the sommelier and then ask, "What's the best bargain on the wine list?" That is a question that always seems to interest them. Sometimes, the answer is still a very expensive bottle of wine, but sometimes it's a $30-$40 bottle (pretty cheap for a place like Bone's). We've tasted many interesting wines that way. Just because a wine is expensive doesn't mean it's great (cough <Silver Oak> cough).

That's for sure! In my experience most knowledgeable wine folks are looking for bargains, not ripoffs. Fortunately there are many superb wines these days at very reasonable prices.
