I'm a university student (18, F, white) with an summer internship offer at a company located on Panola Industrial Blvd, Decatur, GA 30035. It's a really excellent opportunity, and I'd love to take it, but I'm worried about where I will live. My home address and student address are too far away for a commute, so I'd be interested in renting a place to live for this summer (2.5 months, roughly).

Since I'd be moving specifically to be close to my work, I don't want a commute longer than 20 minutes. I've been looking through these forms for a long time, but I'm having trouble synthesizing the data. I've heard good and bad about Lithonia, bad about Redan, good about City of Decatur, and good and bad about South of I20... Specifically I have a list of place that might be good. Riverwood, Snapfinger, Browns Mill Road, and Ashley Vista Apartments. Does anyone have good, complete information about these places?

I know that the safest places to live are in the City of Decatur, but that's like a 30 minutes commute without traffic, so I'm trying to get around that. However, safety is still my topic concern. I don't want to worry about coming home late at night, or about break-ins, or gang activity. My parents are also very worried about crime rates. I don't care about "night-life," but decent shopping areas would be nice.

The company is willing to subsidize my rent costs up to $1000 a month, so that's the extent of my budget.

I'd really appreciate any and all advice about this area.

For short-term, Conyers wouldn't be bad, though you'd be with rush hour instead of reverse commute, but it's not exactly a community for youth.

Glenwood park, city of Decatur or grant park. You will have a reverse commute so there will be no traffic. And I'd say the city of Decatur is no more than 20 min away (def not half an hour).
