Arjay57, you really need to stop with false equivalency. The cost of any recreational facility is dependent on its location in any large urbanized municipality due to it meeting ADA requirements along other idiosyncratic regulations and ordinances such as screening, locker rooms/shower/restroom facilities, etc. based on the particular city of discussion. However, unplanned, literally spur-of-the-moment infrastructure such as this bridge is/was based on a on-a-whim poorly-planned decision that will have a regional impact. Your attempts of false equivalence between a recreational facility going on in Atlanta and this obvious boondoogle (to even those outside of this region) to seem like you are objective on things when it comes off extremely insincere, intellectually dishonest, and borderline idiotic. Just cut the crap...

Granted, the pool we be for the benefit of residents near it and the Cobb bridge will mainly benefit Liberty Media. I still don't think either should be funded by tax payers. But glad CoA residents are getting to vote on it at least.

And I again encourage all CoA residents to vote against the rec facilities part of the bond and only for the transportation piece. Turn out is going to be very very low, so it will be easy for a hand full of people to sway this.

You can vote early this weekend: http://www.fultoncountyga.gov/latest...nd-referendums

I bet I get more people telling me what I should and shouldn't say than anybody else on this board.

Cobb commissioners approve contract for Braves bridge design | www.ajc.com

Quote:
Cobb Commissioners Tuesday unanimously approved an $805,000 contract with Los Angeles-based AECOM Technical Services to design and engineer a bridge over Interstate 285, that will connect the Braves stadium and mixed use development with the Galleria area.

The cost rose more than $50,000 over initial estimates. Cobb Transportation Director Faye DiMassimo said contingency funds were built into the contract because drilling might be delayed as a result of the Interstate 75 managed lane project that is being constructed in the same area.

The design is being funded by $600,000 in Federal Transit Administration funds that are annually appropriated to the county; the rest will be covered by county SPLOST revenue.

...

The county has said it has a “conceptual” cost estimate of between $6-9 million. But when asked if the construction cost could be higher, DiMassimo said: “Potentially.”

A Request for Proposal for bridge design says a variety of funding is anticipated to pay for bridge construction, including federal transit funds, special purpose sales tax receipts, “and/or other local funding.”

Okay, but it is still false equivalency. This is a boondoggle that has no comparison at the moment.
