Downtown is not dangerous, like any big city be aware of your surroundings. There will be beggars and homeless downtown, but nothing dangerous. MARTA is a great way of getting around the city and connects to most tourist destinations and points of interest. MARTA has a station inside the Airport.

This has been asked before, and I will ask it again: Why does Atlanta seem to be so permissive when it comes to panhandling?

Because in the city of Atlanta if you are against panhandling, that must mean that you hate all black people.
