Hello I am a married professional African American woman with 2 boys 8 & 3. and I am thinking about accepting a job in Athens. I am wondering what city will be best for us to live in. I would like a reasonable commute 30 min or less. I am a city girl so I want to be reasonably close to shopping, entertainment and restaurants. I have to have excellent schools I am hoping for public but will pay for private if necessary. I want low crime, have always lived outside of Detroit and never had a crime issue and do not want to move into one. I want a reasonable amount of diversity, and forward thinking can afford rent/mortgage 1100/month. I am only familiar with Atlanta, so please help. Thanks in advance

Watkinsville might work for you. The schools are much better than those in Athens, or so I've heard. It's a pretty little rural town, but an easy commute to Athens.
