The transaction was to be purchaser financed. Atlanta would contract to purchase it from the feds. Perry would contract to purchase it from Atlanta. Each closing would take place simultaneously with money flowing from Perry to Atlanta to the feds.

The facts don't change. Any Developer that wanted to build there would still have to ante up 30M in order to buy the land form the Feds. And then build.

This is what i'm saying. Why doesn't the City of Atlanta buy the land first. I'm sure they have more money than Forest Park and we bought Fort Gillem.

I wonder if MILRA can write bonds. It would have been an easy thing for CoA to have MILRA write a bond for the property. I guess it depends on what their budget looks like.

"Gov. Nathan Deal enacted major changes Monday to the board of a civilian authority overseeing the sale of much of Fort McPherson to filmmaker Tyler Perry. It comes just days after news broke that the media mogul may be walking away from plans to convert the land into a motion picture studio.

Acting on the recommendation of Mayor Kasim Reed, the governor removed a longtime board member who has been critical of the proposal to sell the majority of the base to the Perry. Deal replaced her with two of the Atlanta mayor’s allies, including Reed’s campaign manager, Reed’s staff confirmed earlier Tuesday..."
