Dude Paine could have done better than this Terminus Midtown mashup....still a win for Midtown though.

As far as culture, well, I think it's fine, but I think the Midtown campus and consolidation is likely going to do wonders for that, as far as moving towards more of a Silicon Valley, youthful/hip type culture. We already have a small presence at the Biltmore offices in Midtown, and that office feels like a cool little startup, feels very different than our various Duluth and Alpharetta office park buildings, which aren't too bad, but are a more typical office feel. So I'm hoping that's going to be the case with the new campus, and with all the cool perks as well. I'm sure it will be very GA Tech oriented, and very much geared towards seamlessly getting those smart kids into careers at NCR, the day they graduate, or even before.

Most everybody, at least on the technical/r&d side of the company, wears jeans everyday (incl. the CEO, I've heard), and I can get away with wearing a t-shirt to work every day, if I want to. And I like that. I'd like to see NCR move towards being more of a Google, less of an old traditional or stuffy tech company like IBM. And that's also probably the best strategy.

I've already suggested to my boss that we hold our team meetings at the Cheetah. So, we'll see about that.
Did you work at their Gwinnett location?

While many people would wish for a 50-story tower, this medium sized tower will add more street level activity and make the area feel more urban. We don't need YUGE towers everywhere, look at DC. They have a height limit, that has aided them in becoming a dense, walkable city.

Dont like the building but I do like the amount of jobs they are bringing to Midtown and one more empty space is gone so its a win to me

Well said, cq. Tall towers do not a city make.

London, NYC, Paris, Tokyo and other great cities all over the world are filled with midrise buildings.

I'm still withholding judgment on the looks. These buildings might look really good in real life. Even if that big white-painted Centergy parking deck right behind them is so fugly.

Yes, but our skyline is no where near the size (density wise) as those cities. A huge 45/50 story tower would have been a wonderful addition to the skyline. I almost see this building being a replica of 1 world trade; if taller of course. I think terminus is more appropriate for compassion though.

If the street level were designed in a way similar to much of the street level in DC, I would completely agree with you. The problem is that the street level isn't all that great IMO and I think it is one area where Midtown could really stand to improve with all of the development that is going on.

Right? I'd rather see NCR develop the length of a city block with retail and other active uses, than see another enormously tall building set back from the street on a giant grassy, suburban-style lawn, like Bank of America Plaza.
