I agree with this.

Eating can be just as distracting as texting. I have seen way too many people weaving down the road with a hamburger stuck in their face.

Depends, was he just stuffing fries in his mouth? One handing a burger? Or was he using both hand while steering with his elbows? I wish cops would focus more on people running red lights. I see people blow through intersections with a cop waiting in the turn lane but then the cop just keeps on going.

This was on the news last night, he was one-handing a burger.

Folks should eat at the restaurant or wait till they get home. It's crazy to operate a two ton machine on a public street while eating.

If you can't control yourself, just pull over until you can drive safely.

No different than changing a radio station with one hand. I hope he fights, wins, and maybe even sues the Cobb PD (or whatever PD issued this bogus citation).

All that said was eating increases reaction time the most. If they're really gonna go after distracted driving, they need to ban phone calls or at least require hands free. I've been in so many cars with people so engrossed in their conversations that they lose track of their speed or start moving back and forth in the lane. My mom's really bad about that. She'll go 65 then over 70 then back down. Changing lanes while driving down the freeway with a phone in one hand up to your head? Good luck.

Ditto. How come we don't require everyone to use a hands-free device? Or ban cell use while driving altogether. I know that seems crazy but 20-25 years ago none of us were driving while chatting and we were just fine.

If he wasn't driving erratically or exceeding the speed limit then what's the problem? People FLY on those highways down in Atlanta. I remember I use to drive 80 mph on 85 and would have people fly past me even at that rate of speed.

We would all be much safer, and healthier too, probably, if we neither used cell phones nor ate, while driving.
