Actually, when Cobb decides to do something, they don't typically do it on the cheap, nor do they make it look bad. The Cobb Energy Center is, in my estimation, the most interesting-looking AND functional performing arts center in the region. (The Fox is awesome, architecturally, and I enjoy going there, but the acoustics and sight lines are pretty bad in many of the seats; the main theater is just too dang big. Meanwhile, Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Center is old and tired looking and sounding. I dropped my ASO subscription years ago partially because I didn't much enjoy the experience of the theater itself.)

Good lord. I hope Cobb has better tastes than to erect something so hideous.

I'm not sure CQ. Many of those structures are fairly modest and I do believe Cobb would build overhangs at key stations.

What I'm not sure about is the pre-entry fare gates. I can see the conservative leaders being fearful of those who don't pay and going ahead with something like that, but that would be significant more land and cost.

Years back Cobb proposed a special freeway express/BRT station. The images are disappearing off the internet, but I found one still in existence: The Problems With Regional Transportation Funding - Atlanta Metro Transportation | Examiner.com

They were pretty sizable stations. There was going to be one really nice one near the Energy Center.

What I'm curious about now.... is the BRT better being a component of the managed lanes project? With a 45 mph free flow? or on Cobb Pkwy with a few stop lights, a low max speed... but more room for immediate redevelopment potential.

I like the 2nd, 6th, and 7th picture down.

Alternatively I would build something out of brick and give it that old time Southern flair.

If they attempted to build stations like that, their voters would erupt with wasteful government spending and how it's unnecessary.
