I just wish they would bring back the robotic voice from the early 1990s.

"The next station is Concourse A....the color-coded maps and signs in this vehicle match the station colors....please move to the center of the vehicle and away from the doors."

My dad used to travel for business between 1993 and 1995 and we would go pick him up at the airport on Friday nights. We met him at the gate (when anyone could go to the gates at anytime) and I still remember that voice like it was yesterday!

As far as the upgrade is concerned, I'm happy for it, I just hope they keep it as fast as it is now. I have no time to waste when I'm going between concourses.

....it's also hilarious when you see someone not hanging on take a tumble. I know, I'm horrible. (I've done my share of saving a few of those people)

Oh my god... the comment on that story from the guy who suggested replacing the socialist Plane Train with roads and cars. I know they are just too lazy and stupid to bother to know what the hell they're commenting on, but I really like the visual image of conservatives railing against a people mover and demanding to be able to drive their car directly to the gate at the airport.

I agree they need to figure out a better shuttle to get people from the international terminal to MARTA, but it's a tough problem. It makes the most logical sense to me to extend the SkyTrain... but it would have to take a long, meandering path around the edge of the airport to get to the other side. It would be worth it though; the new international terminal is very impressive to travelers but the bus that takes you to the train station, much less so.

Oh I'm sure I'm absolutely hilarious!

I'm that guy that is usually a walking zombie, because I get close to no sleep near the beginning and end of a project and I'm just totally spaced out in airports nowadays.

I remember years back it was always exciting and so many people and lots going on... and now I'm just half dead to the world

You're not the only one. More often than not, I'm also a walking zombie through that airport. My last trip was a red eye from HNL which took 8 hours. Left at 5:30pm Hawaii time, arrived just after 6:30am Eastern. Whew..

The ones I'm specifically referring to are those on their cell phones oblivious to any and every thing around them.

Personally, if I'm not sitting down on either end of the train, I prefer to just keep my legs spread to allow for balance so I don't have to bother touching anything. Works every time.

Yea those are never fun!

I had a couple projects take me out to Asia and inevitably I always have to change my reservations on the way home for some reason or another, which gives me horrible flights and connections.

I had a double connection the first of which was in Hong Kong. I got in there at night and the airport was pretty much abandoned. I was stuck there on a 12 hour layover. I left after lunch. The sad thing is, because of the nature of what I do, I got little sleep before that and had no where to go the day before my first flight. I spent too much time in the original airport.

The fun part about this is my last domestic connection to Atlanta is always with people starting their day, full of life.... normal... and I am completely void of all social skills and attention to whats is going on around me by that point.

When I got to ATL I think I was grinning at one point, because I could walk. I was like chanting to myself in my head... right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot... yeeeeeeeea! gooo me!

I actually feel sorry for the people I see at immigration. They are the human beings I'm forced to talk to, when I'm really incapable.
