Pretty much all of this. Reed is coming off like a bully with a "my way or the highway" attitude.

They are both idiots in my opinion. They need to resolve whatever personality conflicts they have and move on. It's in the best interest of all parties, including parents and taxpayers, for the APS and the City of Atlanta to come to terms with the fact that each needs the other. This is causing major investment and improvement setbacks around the Beltline and they need to just stop being childish.

The city council has set aside the money in an escrow account until the mayor and APS work this out. The money is there, but there needs to be an agreement.

Yeah, disappointing on both sides.

Come to an agreement on this already.

I understand the hold up. By taking money away from the BeltLine both the city and APS are potentially losing more future tax money because we have seen the BeltLine can attract a lot more money in private money than public investment.

Fine. Get some equitable solution negotiated, and stop holding other developments opportunities hostage as "leverage" over APS.

If the Beltline has enough money to pay for art festivals, new band shells, yoga and aerobics classes, glossy newsletters, bus tours, how to ride a bike classes, PR campaigns and the like, they need to pay their school board taxes.

Just like the rest of us slobs do.
