Interesting op-ed piece in the AJC from a guy who thinks ordinary citizens can step up and contribute to the vitality of their community (he does TED talks and books on Love Where You Live). He thinks that people can create emotionally engaging places by contributing their time and $500 to making it happen. The piece didn't really list any examples. I've tried to do some research to see what has been done in other cities and couldn't find much. Seems like people did stuff like a giant water slide in a city, pianos on the street for people to play, festivals.

So---curious---what would y'all do, assuming you were willing to invest your time and $500, to make metro Atlanta/your specific city more emotionally engaging/fun/liveable?

paint the 2 crosswalks in front of my house with colorful hopscotch squares (lol- or some design that is eyecatching to drivers and also draws people to the crosswalk vs just randomly crossing a busy road).

plant a pair of blueberry bushes at the bus stops

You could buy a bunch of one way bus tickets for $500. It's just a matter of choosing the right people to send packing.

How does propping up stock in slow growing Fortune 500 companies help Atlanta?
