Btw, if you look at WSB traffic reports in the morning, lots of other areas have insane rush hour drive times. Few people win either way.

This. And many of us don't even bother with I-75. I live in downtown Marietta and work in Hapeville. Rarely is my drive longer than about 40 minutes, which is entirely tolerable given the quality of my house and neighborhood.

575 is the one that always looks like hell to me. Once you slog your way to 75 you still have all of 75 to 285 to deal with. However, I don't think 285E to PC is as bad as 285W to PC from 85. Also 75 ITP isn't bad. 85 backs up at 400. Goes down to 3 lanes then the 2 lanes from 400 (and all that traffic) gets condensed to one and joins the 3 lanes from 85. Causes all sorts of problems and 75 avoids that.

Yep. Average speeds on 575 are usually worse than 75. If I really have to be in the office in the morning, and 575 is its usual crappy self, then I stick to surface streets (starting with Hwy 5). Afternoon rush is more difficult: I cant avoid it unless I leave the office at 6:30 (sometimes not even then), and Hwy 5 north in the afternoon is usually just as bad if not worse.

I can't speak for others. I love where I live and I love where I work. It's just unfortunate that they aren't very close to each other. Also, my wife works in Kennesaw.

I've known people who go out of their way to ensure they live near where they work so that they have easy commutes. Then they lose their job. Or their office moves. Or they get bought out. Or some other event occurs that causes the job to relocate elsewhere. Then they're back to lousy commutes. That's life.

We do the best we can. I just moved up from Tallahassee and it was an adjustment for me. I go in early and I'm usually on the road by 3pm to beat the rush.

My mom worked for Avon in Suwannee(however you spell it) we lived on Franklin Rd in Marietta. She had to be at work at 630am she would leave the house at 4am to beat any traffic

I feel for the people that work at NCR in Duluth, bought a house nearby but now will be forced to commute intown. And if they complain about the commute people on here will ask why the didn't move close to work. Offices move. It happens and if you just bought a house it's expensive to just up and move when you can just commute. Throw in a family who has roots in an area, school friends and all, or a spouse who still works nearby and you really don't have much of a choice.
