I just did on search on Trulia for a 2 bdrm 2 bath condo for sale in midtown Atlanta, and it only return 9 results!!!! NINE RESULTS!! I put $200k as my max price. Seriously? I can no longer get a 2 bdrm condo in Midtown for under $200k?! Here me clearly people: Not a house, not a town home. A CONDOOOOOO. Do I need to do more research, or forget this part of town with that budget? (And I'm actually stretching the budget!) This can't be real life.....

My search results showed 1 unit in Midtown that was a 2/2 for under $200K. I searched in FMLS which is one of the multiple listing websites real estate agents use.

Wow. I just don't get it. I don't. Maybe a 1 bedroom? Which I really don't want....

Just wait....Asset bubbles are going to burst left and right in the coming years, including another real estate bubble.

Try searching for one with only one bathroom. That, or follow the Beltline neighborhoods south til you can find what you want.

I don't think 2 bdr in any decent location ever got to 200k in Midtown even through the crisis. Believe me I shopped high and low in '08-'09 and even the most heavily discounted in good buildings was mid 200s. The cheapest are now in the low 300s and I see a lot closer to 400 than I'd like.

This time around the difference is the economy isn't built purely off construction speculation. Some exists but there hasn't been a new condo completed in Midtown since ~'09 which would tighten up the market significantly.

I suppose I need to move on. I wanna be in town Atlanta, but not on the east side; feels too far removed. Can I get a 2/2 anywhere with an Atlanta address??

I don't feel safe living downtown, and there's not enough everyday needs type of businesses down there or sense of community. It's coming up, but not up enough for me at this point!
