Not in the last couple of years, in my experience.

200k? That very much depends on your definition of safe. I bet that there are more than a few *condos* that would meet that description and price range... but probably not a house.

It depends on what you're looking for. Nobody is saying that its impossible.

Do you need a single family home? Is a townhome ok? How old can the house be? What state of repair/disrepair is accetpable?

If you check Zillow, you will see several houses in the city for what you are asking.

As everyone else has stated, some more input on what exactly you are looking for would help to answer that question. There are plenty of 2 bed condos, in great parts of the city that are under 200k.

Here's a 2 bed 1 bath condo, right in the heart of Midtown. Very safe area and tons of stuff to do.

Yes, you have plenty of options. Check areas around Ormewood Park where I am. There are homes under $200k: 592 Warwick St SE, Atlanta, GA 30316 is For Sale | Zillow

And as mentioned above, you can find options in about any area in town for $200k, even condos in Midtown.

Two bedrooms in 801 square feet?

I'd be interested in seeing that layout. The one bedroom apartments I have lived in are bigger than that.

Sounds about right for a 2/1.

Again, you have options. If you'd prefer a 1,400 sq ft 3/2 for $113k those exist in the area too: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/15...35889488_zpid/
