The Braves....anyone else given up on 2015 already? (Atlanta, Sandy Springs: assess, stats)

There can be both real fans and those who support their team because they are the home team. I fall in the latter, and I think a significant portion of people who fill the stands fall in the category.

Since the Braves' connection to Atlanta seemed to have been gleefully shed, I have zero reason to be a Braves fan anymore. I think there are more people like myself than many people realize. You know the folks, the people that rock Yankees, Cubs, and Red Sox gear not just as fan of the team, but as a symbol of the city you are from. That is now a joke as far as the Braves is concerned.

The real/true/serious fans will still be there, no doubt. But I believe they have alienated a huge group in the process.

Real fans know a team is more than just a name, it is history and players and respect for fans. Y'all are just going to accept that Braves have lost many fans and move on.

So do you still revel in the days of the Boston Beaneaters? After all, that is what they were before the Braves. Then of course they moved to Milwaukee. Still prideful of those years in Wisconsin? That Johnny Logan was quite the player. Had the Braves never moved to Atlanta, can you honestly say you would've been a fan of the organization? Imagine instead the Washington Senators came to Atlanta in 1961 instead of relocating to Minneapolis (Twins). Would you still be a Braves fan? Or would you be a fan of the Senators (that would've been renamed most likely)

But it is not really about that. It is about the message they are sending.

If they built a new Braves stadium right next to the existing one and started touting "South Atlanta, Home of the Braves" and making statements on how they were going to "focus on getting fans from the south side of the city to the stadium by MARTA instead of those in the north suburbs by car". They would have lost fans that way too.

What is your point? No I do not revel in the days of the Boston Beaneaters. And I have already said that the name is not what makes a team, so it would have depended on the relationship that team developed with the city and its fans over the years it was here on if I was a fan.

Warren Spahn, Joe Adcock, Eddie Matthews, Hank, Lew Burdette -- man, those were some great years. The Braves were a machine.

Zip code mean nothing, unless the stadium is within the city limits it is not in Atlanta, just metro Atlanta.

I think that only a portion of the 400,000 folks within COA would agree with you. The Atlanta that most folks refer to, includes many suburban areas not within city limits.
